Some update to 2.1 Questions
I'm on 2.0.18, update 201, minimstreamer 209. I have a couple of questions.

If I do nothing, am I correct in assuming that minimstreamer will stop working on 10th February 2022, and that the only option to keep using it is a full paid 2.1 license?

I run 2 copies of minimserver, with subtly different configurations. The main difference is that one is focused on Groups (ie Works) and one on Tracks. Would that work with 2.1?

I really only use minimserver as a backup in case my main music server (LMS, squeezelite etc) fails (which it has in the past with some complex linux updates), and for other occasional use. Minimserver is one of the very few tools that I have ever found that is flexible enough for classical music well. So I have a bit of a dilemma in deciding whether to upgrade to the paid version, including a yearly fee. I fully understand why the paid license has been introduced, and am not complaining, just a bit indecisive.

RE: Some update to 2.1 Questions
There is no 2.1 license as such. If your license term for updates and MinimStreamer is still active (as it is currently in your case), you can install all updates and new versions as soon as they are released. This means you can install 2.1 now but you won't be able to install any updates that are released after 10th February unless you extend your updates and MinimStreamer license for another year.

Everything that works with 2.0 will continue to work unchanged with 2.1. With 2.1 you get some new features in addition.

If you want to be able to use MinimStreamer after 10th February, you need to extend the license.

I hope this helps you to make your decision.

When did the license require payment? I'm struggling to recall.

RE: Some update to 2.1 Questions
I don't suppose you would consider a one-off minimstreamer license, no updates, and no expiry?

You mentioned 10th February 2022 as your expiry date for updates and MinimStreamer. This would mean you purchased the license on 10th Fenbriary 2021. About two weeks before the expiry date, you will receive a reminder email explaining how to exend the license. You can either pay for an additional 12 months or you can start a repeating subscription that continues until you decide to cancel.

MinimStreamer has always been licensed for a limited period, even before MinimServer 2 paid licenses.

Updates and support take most of my time. To ensure the future viability of MinimServer, the current licensing model is designed to provide a regular income that covers the costs of providing future updates and support. A one-off payment would not achieve this.

Thanks Simon - I'm sorry. I had no recollection of paying the initial £28 last February. I appreciate that it all takes time and effort, and people need income. I shall think about what to do for the future when the reminder arrives.

RE: Some update to 2.1 Questions
Hello Simon, and thanks for recent updates of functions in MinimServer. I am on 2.1 rev.211, full license, and everything works fine. However, when updating (manually) to MinimWatch 2.1 (Windows 10 machine), I get info that MW is 2.09. Is that normal?

RE: Some update to 2.1 Questions
There has never been a MinimWatch 2.0.9. Are you perhaps seeing the minimstreamer-2.0.9 package?

You are so right! I stand corrected - old eyes and small text are all I can try to blame.
