Minimserver 2 status notification on DS918+ with DSM 7.0: Dutch:"Handmatig gestopt" (Eng:Manually Stopped) Where can I find instructions how to resolve this issue? I used MinimServer 2 on my Synology DS918+ with DSM 6.2. I updated DSM from 6.2 to DSM 7.0 - 41890 Before this update, I had to de-install MinimServer 2 and Java 8 from my NAS. I made a backup of my MinimServer configuration (MinimServer / backup / minimserver.config). I did not deactivate my MinimServer licence. I did not think I had one, and I'm willing to pay for a new lincense if nesserary. After updating DSM to 7.0, I installed MinimServer (version 2.0.18.2003) in 'Package Center' of DSM. After pushing button Dutch:"Uitvoeren" (Eng:Run?) of the package MinimServer, I get the message Dutch:"Bezig met laden ..." (Eng:Loading...?). After 20 seconds the text on the button changes to Dutch:"Openen" (Eng:Open?) with status Dutch:"Ingeschakeld" (Eng:Running?). And then within 5 seconds back to Dutch:"Uitvoeren" (Eng:Run?). With status Dutch:"Handmatig gestopt" (Eng:manually stopped?). Maybe this is a licence issue. I think I do not have a licence of MinimServer yet. Where can I find instructions how to resolve this issue? |

RE: MinimServer "Manually Stopped"on Synology DSM 7
In File Station, open the MinimServer/appData folder. This should contain files named minimserver.log and minimserver-out.log along with some other files. Please post the contents of the minimserver.log and minimserver-out.log files here.

RE: MinimServer "Manually Stopped"on Synology DSM 7
Wow, such a quick response!
In the folder "MinimServer" on my NAS, there is only one folder named "backup", with only one file named "minimserver.config". I don't have a folder "appData". I don't care if I must configure MinimServer. I did not have special configuration specifications. I only had one root (home) folder specified, which contained all my music files (.mp3 and .flac) in numerous subfolders. |

RE: MinimServer "Manually Stopped"on Synology DSM 7
This means MinimServer installation has failed for some reason. This is not related to licensing or to configuration settings. Are there any messages about this in the Synology system log (Log Center)?

RE: MinimServer "Manually Stopped"on Synology DSM 7
In the log center of DSM 7.0 there are notifications of
- System successfully started [MinimServer] - System successfully stopped [MinimServer] I do not see more details of these events. So I can not find information why MinimServer was stopped. So there is no hint of a cause or a solution in the log files, I think. But wait, there is more .... I found the solution, thanks to you: Because you said is was not a licence problem of MinimServer, I did some experiments: At installing MinimServer, the question is asked: "On which volume do you want to install MinimServer?" MinimServer have to be installed on a certain volume. My NAS has Volume 1, Volume 3 (biggest volume) and Volume 4. I do not know anymore on what volume I had installed Minimserver on DSM 6.2 (in 2018?). Last saturday, after installing DSM 7.0, I installed MinimServer on volume 3. With the effect "Manually stopped". This morning I de-installed MinimServer completelly (so with all configuration files) and reinstalled MinimServer on volume 1. With the same effect: "Manually stopped". Then I de-installed MinimServer completelly (so with all configuration files) and reinstalled MinimServer on volume 4. And supprise supprise, now MinimServer keeps on running! MinimServer even remembered my content directory: Your last rescan was at 08:03:40 on 22 Apr 2021 Your selected content directory is /volume3/MuziekG/Bibliotheek I rescanned the library. MinimServer works fine. MinimWatch works fine. I'm happy! Thanks for your help. Kind regards Guus van der Meulen |

RE: MinimServer "Manually Stopped"on Synology DSM 7
Thank you for posting the solution. I am not sure why this happening. Perhaps DSM is remembering the previous installation volume and doesn't work correctly if the volume is changed. I will do some experiments to see if I can reproduce this problem.

RE: MinimServer "Manually Stopped"on Synology DSM 7
Succes in trying to reproduce the situation. If I can help, just let me know.
Some additional information: I think initially (in 2018) I installed MinimServer on Vol 4. - on 21 august, I de-installed MinimServer (on DSM 6.2) NOT with option "Completelly", but with the other option; With option "Remain configurations files and profiles" / "Remember settings" or something like this. And I de-installed Java 8. - Then I installed DSM 7 - Then I installed MinimServer on Volume 3. Which result in status "Manually Stopped" after a few seconds. Maybe the option "remember settings" at de-installation and installing MinimServer on another volume resulted in the status "Manually stopped". Regards Guus van der Meulen |

RE: MinimServer "Manually Stopped"on Synology DSM 7
I was not able to reproduce this problem. I uninstalled MinimServer on DSM 7 and reinstalled it also on DSM 7. The reinstall did not ask me for a volume but autromatically installed MinimServer on the same volume as it was installed previously.
I tried installing another package (Docker) and this also did not ask me to specify a volume for installation. How are you getting a prompt to ask you for a volume when installing a package? Edit: I have found how to get a prompt to change the volume and I have reproduced the problem. It will be fixed in the next version of MinimServer for DSM 7. Thanks very much for your help with finding and fixing this problem. |
