If you tell it to save images to "[yourmusicfolder]\indexArtwork\%artist%.%extension%" they are named as MinimServer needs them. In "File Browser" you also have to set this path in "specify path to find images".
I just tried this, works fine , I like it! Smile

RE: Index Artwork
MinimServer update 188 has been released. This update provides substantial improvements to index artwork.

1) indexArtwork=folder has been extended to provide images for all index entries. The image shown is based on the name of the index entry. For example, you can create a Composer.jpg file with an image that you want to be shown for the Composer index entry or you can create a 'Show All.jpg' image that you want to be shown for the '>> Show All' index entry.

2) indexArtwork=auto has been extended to provide images for almost all index entries. For example, the index entry for Composer would show an artwork image from the first file found in the selection for Composer and the index entry for Date would show an artwork image from the first file found in the selection for Date. These would usually not be the same image because the Composer selection is sorted in a different order than the Date selection.

3) Because of change 2, the top-level index now contains images for all selections if the indexArtwork option is set to auto or all. This makes MinimServer much more visually attractive, especially with control points that show images as tiles rather than lists.

4) The "letter" index entries provided by the alphaGroup property now show artwork with either indexArtwork=folder (the letter B would show the image B.jpg) or indexArtwork=auto (the letter B would show an image for the first file found within the B selection).

5) The search for indexArtwork=auto in folder view has been extended to search for artwork from folders below the folder shown in the index. This is useful if your library is organised into artist folders with album folders below these. Previously, an artist folder without a folder.jpg file would not show artwork. With indexArtwork=auto, you will now see an image from the first album folder for the artist.

This has required some very significant changes to the implementation of index artwork and it is possible there might be a few cases where the artwork image shown isn't the image that is expected. Please let me know about any such cases.

Performance of the search for artwork should be good, even with a large library. If your control point takes longer to respond to a selection action, this is likely to be caused by the time taken for the control point to load artwork images over the network rather than the time taken for MinimServer to find the images. Please let me know about any cases where browsing responsiveness is significantly worse with the indexArtwork option enabled.

RE: Index Artwork
Hi Simon,

thanks for this nice new feature.

I found that when running Minimserver in another language (in my case German) the icons have to be named in this language. Maybe this hint is helpful for somebody. It also seems that for the n Albums item the image has to be named n Albums and therefore probably has to be renamed each time a new album gets added to the library (into n+1 Albums Wink). Simon, do you think you could change this behavior in one of the future releases?
If someone is interested, in this thread there is a download link to a quite nice set of icons: https://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread....resolution (I don't want to post the download link directly due to copyright concerns.)

RE: Index Artwork
The "n Albums" name is a bug and will be fixed in the next update. Thanks for letting me know about this.

I would like to hear from some non-English speakers about whether they prefer the name of the artwork file for an index entry to match what shows in the control point (translated) or use the default English name.

From the Netherlands: English is fine.

For me both is ok. Maybe English is less confusing although I already named the files in German Wink
As just written an another thread, tanks for the excellent support!

RE: Index Artwork
Hi Simon,

Quote:5) The search for indexArtwork=auto in folder view ...

this is great news! Probably I will dare to click the synology update button for minimserver2 soon. At the latest when a last recently album view is available I will need to update. Wink

I prefer the english naming, because I think it is less confusing. Also when switching the language the configuration can be kept the same. When finding an configuration example (or icon set) in the web in english, it would be easier to use it in a system with another language.

The only question ist how to find out the correct names if you cannot use the displayed names. I guess they are mentioned in the manual pages?

Greetings
Gert

RE: Index Artwork
Hello Simon,

I have upgraded to minimserver2 on my Synology NAS now and have activated the trial license. In the serverOptions I have configured:

Code:
language=en, indexArtwork=auto

but in the folder view I still do not see any album art. Only at the lowest level for each album like before.

As I understand the indexArtwork description all folders in the folder view should get an icon, shouldn't it? Do I have to configure something additional? An rescan triggered from the web frontend page did not change anything. Only the albums, items and untagged folders have got artwork now.

Thanks
Gert

EDIT: Ok, some seconds after submitting the question I had the idea to check the version. I already had done the update to 189, but the about requester did only show 187. I had to do a relaunch of the server to activate the new version. Now the artwork is displayed. Looks great.
