Tagging multichannel files
Whilst we wait for Oppo to sort their DSD<>UPnP issues with Simon, I'm just after some suggestions on how to tag or manage multichannel files with MinimServer.
At the moment I have 5.1 Flac streaming beautifully to the Oppo 105 using MS. Fortunately the only music format in FLAC I have is 5.1, so I can easily find the files using the #audioformat tag. Hopefully when DSD gets into MS I'll be able to do the same because I am storing stereo DSD as DSF and mulitchannel as DFF But this is not ideal for everyone who doesn't do what I've done or has stereo FLACS as well.. So any ideas for specific tagging of stereo vs multichannel? Cheers |

I could add a new special tag #AudioChannels that would have the value 1 (mono), 2 (stereo) or 5.1 (multichannel). Would this help? I have had no contact from OPPO about DSD streaming. |

RE: Tagging multichannel files
haha sure.
In addition to the streaming problems of DSD files to the Oppo via DLNA there also a bit of a problem with DTS playback. It seems it can only be as a WAV file to the Oppo (not FLAC). So this has problems with tags (or the lack of them) right Simon? The DTS WAV's come out multichannel but I think they are tagged 2 channel. Drilling down via #audioformat to WAV doesn't tree them out in folders the way FLAC does. Am I making sense? |

Is MinimServer seeing these files in your library as WAV files? If so, what software was used to convert the original DTS file to a WAV file? Did that software put any tags in the WAV file? |
