RE: Minimwatch stopped working immediately as scanning was completed
PC is connected via 5ghz wifi, NAS by cable.
I uninstalled all Java, and reinstalled 64-bit offline installer. I then uninstalled and reinstalled Minimwatch. The icon is now not red, but grey. In options - properties - oh.subnet I have entered 255.255.255.0. According to the network settings on the NAS, that is the subnet my NAS is on. I also double-checked with ipconfig /all. Does Minimwatch work with either of the 32 bit or 64 bit Java install ? I have tried completely turning of absolutely everything of firewall software, anti-virus, VPN etc. Minimwatch still doesn't turn green. Funny thing is, when I first installed it, it was also green for a few hours, before suddenly turning grey again. My computer is connected to a VPN. I suppose this may complicate things ? |

Using "refresh" on the Minimwatch icon it still stays grey.
I've checked the multicast / IGPM snooping stuff on my router and it is all the way Minimserver website says it should be. RE: Minimwatch stopped working immediately as scanning was completed
The value 255.255.255.0 is not the correct subnet value. It is a subnet mask, which is not the same thing.
From what you have said about the icon being green before changing to grey and also abut your computer being connected to a VPN, it is very likely that entering the correct subnet value in MinimWatch will fix the problem. MinimWatch uses ohNet for UPnP communication with MinimServer. ohNet has a limitation that it can only communicate on a single subnet. If more than one subnet is available, ohNet picks a subnet at random. If it happens to pick the local subnet that includes your NAS, you will get the green icon. If it happens to pick the remote subnet for your VPN, you will get the grey icon. By entering a specific subnet in the ohnet.subnet property, you are preventing this random choice and ensuring that MinimWatch picks the correct subnet every time. What is the local IP address of your NAS? The correct subnet value will be similar to this address but with the last number changed to 0. For example, if the local IP address of your NAS is 192.168.1.77, the correct subnet value to enter in MinimWatch would be 192.168.1.0. MinimWatch works with both 32-bit and 64-bit Java. |

Yes, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling both two Javas and Minimwatch. I've realised the correct value for the property in question is not the same as the subnet mask. The very short period Minimwatch was actually green it had 192.168.0.1 written there. Now, however, I've reinstalled Minimwatch a thousand times. and trying to do it now proceeds as normal through the install process, but the resulting program never launches. How would I go about fixing a problem like that ? I've used both Iobit Uninstaller, which is more thorough, and its own uninstall interface. |

RE: Minimwatch stopped working immediately as scanning was completed
It sounds like you should be using 192.168.0.0 as your ohnet.subnet value.
Are there any error messages in either of these files? C:\Users\your-user-name\AppData\Roaming\MinimWatch\data\minimserver.log C:\Users\your-user-name\AppData\Roaming\MinimWatch\data\minimserver-out.log The AppData folder is hidden by default in Windows Explorer. To view this folder, you can type the full path into the Explorer address bar. |

But I still tried to paste the full path into the address bar, and it appears the specific Minimwatch directory is not there in \Roamin. I tried another Minimwatch install, and it completed seemingly successfully, with Iobit Uninstaller presenting a pop-up saying this many files had been installed, this many registry entries etc. But those folders you refer to don't exist. |

RE: Minimwatch stopped working immediately as scanning was completed
Please try doing this one step at a time.
1) Type this into the Explorer address bar: C:\Users\your-user-name\AppData 2) You should see the subfolders Local, LocalLow and Roaming 3) Double-click on Roaming 4) You should see a long list of folders. MinimWatch should be there, just below Microsoft. 5) Double-click on MinimWatch 6) You should see the subfolders data, libext and tmp 7) Double-click on data 8) The files in this folder should include minimwatch.log. (Note: the filenames that I posted in my previous email were not correct.) 9) If the minimwatch.log file exists, please copy and paste its contents here. 10) If any of the previous steps did not produce the results that I have described, please post the details. |

Yes, I have tried this. The folder is not there.
I have also tried reinstalling several times. The desktop icon appears, but program does not start. RE: Minimwatch stopped working immediately as scanning was completed
This log that you posted from Iobit Uninstaller does not show any information about what is or is not in the folder C:\Users\ekvms\AppData\Roaming.
Please follow the steps 1) to 8) that I posted previously. Which of these steps does not show what I described? I cannot help you without having this information. |
