RE: ReplayGain
Please try running the "C:\ffmpeg\bin\ffmpeg.exe" program from a command prompt window on your WHS machine. This should display some information about ffmpeg.

So questions are: - how/where to I access stream.transcode property? (and the other mentioned in the citied post) - Where do I turnon/off the transcoding? I could not find on neither MiniMWatch nor on Statuspage of MinimServer (opened from Synology DSM). Can somebody help? Thanks! |

You need to do the following: Right click the MinimWatch icon, select Properties, then in the System tab: stream.transcode set to flac:wav or flac:wav24 You also need the stream.options set to convOut=-af volume=replaygain=album (or =track for track gain tags). You also need to make sure you have ffmpeg installed in your NAS. |

RE: ReplayGain
Hi, first post here and digging up an old thread.
I've implemented the steps on page 5 to enable track gain on my 16/44.1 FLAC library. Page 5 also mentions the option of increasing bit depth from 16 to 24 (flac:wav24) prior to applying track gain. So, I'm wondering if there is any audible or theoretical benefit (or downside) to increasing bit depth from 16 to 24 bit with track gain applied? My renderers are hard-wired with network cable, so no wi-fi bandwidth concerns. Thanks, Adam |

RE: ReplayGain
Welcome to the MinimServer forum!
The best way to find out is to try it both ways and compare. The gain calculation will be more accurate if performed with 24-bit precision. Also, your renderer might get some benefit from receiving a 24-bit stream. |

I tried 24 bit and the transcoding seems to be working based on the track details displayed on Hi-Fi Cast, my controller app. However, I don't think the track gain tags are being applied because the song to song volume variation seems high, and the overall volume seems high. Generally, when I use Foobar as a sever and enable track gain, I have to set my volume higher because most tracks are lowered in volume from track gain. Is there a way to verify whether minimserver is applying track gain to the stream? I attached a screen shot of my properties. For ffmpeg, I copied the exe that came with bubbleupnp into the opt/bin folder. |

RE: ReplayGain
You need to use flac:wav24; (note the semicolon) to send the audio through FFmpeg for transcoding and replay gain processing.

Duh, my bad, totally missed the semicolon! Just curious, without the semicolon, conversion to wav and increasing to 24 bit still works, so is this done within minimserver vs. using FFmpeg? Thanks. |
