Minimwatch error message after update
I was prompted, and did an update, to MinimServer yesterday (actually, now that I think about it, I'm not sure if it was Minimwatch or Minimserver that I updated). Now MinimWatch isn't working, with a red note icon and error message seen below. Below is the log. I am unable to locate the file "jminim-0.7.115.jar" mentioned in the log.
Any suggestions, anyone?

Regards;

John

RE: Minimwatch error message after update
Please try installing MinimWatch 0.8.4.7 from this page. I think this should solve the problem.

RE: Minimwatch error message after update
I installed as suggested for the windows version. I got an error message as follows when trying to invoke the app after installation:

Minim Server Error
"c:\Users\John\AppData\Roaming\MinimSrrver\libext" is not a directory"

Previously, I got the following message in the Minimwatch log after doing the update a couple of days ago:

"Unable to delete old module file C:\Users\John\AppData\Roaming\MinimWatch\libext\jminim-0.7.118.jar
Startup complete"

I couldn not find this file when attempting to delete the file the message was telling me to delete. There was no "AppData" folder. Could this be related to the problem I just mentioned above? It mentions the same non-existent folder. Could it be a hidden folder?

RE: Minimwatch error message after update
The message about "unable to delete old module file" is a problem in 0.8.4 that was fixed in 0.8.4.7. You shouldn't see it again.

The AppData folder is hidden by default in Windows Explorer. You can see it by typing the full path C:\Users\John\AppData into the Explorer address bar.

The other message about libext not being a directory sounds familiar. Did you get it when MinimServer was launched by the installer or are you getting it now when you double-click the MinimServer desktop launch icon to launch MinimServer?

RE: Minimwatch error message after update
This is strange. My previous version has an icon on the desktop (Installed Nov. 2), as does the latest version I installed yesterday at your suggestion. The error message I last reported results when I try invoking this latest version from the desktop icon.

When I right-click the gray icon (resulting when I invoke the old version), and select "Options, About (watch)", it shows 0.8.4 Update 57. It also has a button "Show Updates" which, when clicked, says "All packages are up to date".

Could the problem be that there are 2 versions on the PC? I looked at Control Panel, and I see them both, 0.8.4 and 0.8.4.7, of which the 0.8.4.7 does not invoke at all.

Also, I am no longer seeing the "unable to delete old module file" message.

I still get the MinimServer error "'C:\Users\John\AppData\Roaming\MinimServer\libext' is not a directory" when invoking the latest (0.8.4.7) from the desktop icon.

Any suggestions?

Thanks;

John

RE: Minimwatch error message after update
Installing the new version should remove the old version. It sounds like the uninstall didn't complete successfully, possibly because the old version was running.

I suggest you exit MinimServer if it is running, then uninstall the old version and the new version. After this, install the new version only.

If, like me, you are useless at typing in long file and folder paths correctly, an alternative is to open the Run command (in Windows 10, right-click on the Start Menu icon and select Run from the alternative menu that appears), type in %Appdata% and click OK. This gets you to the ...\Appdata\Roaming folder, where you should find the MinimServer folder.

Mr Nash;

I screwed up. I was confusing MinimServer with MinimWatch. I reinstalled Server several times and not Watch. In the meantime, I was prompted to update the NAS firmware. So I did, along with some other QNAP housekeeping. The bottom line, with updated NAS firmware, and reinstalled MinimServer and MinimWatch, all is well (green) once again. But in doing a right-click of the green icon, selecting "About", I see "MinimServer 0.8.4.5 Update 114". I don't care since it all works, but I expected 0.8.4.7. No biggie.

Thanks, and sorry for putting you on a wild goose chase!

I'm heading to Hawaii tomorrow morning, and I am making preparations for that right now. But when I return, a donation to MinimServer would be in order. I really appreciate all of the help you have given me!!!! Besides, Shelley's Stereo in LA charges 125 bucks an hour for remote support, and you've been much more help in solving these problems than they have.

Regards, and Happy Holidays! (Christmas or Hanukkah which ever is applicable);

John
