Noob Question - Album Sort
Hi all,

Very new to MinimServer but I like that it's very responsive and very flexible.

One question I have; I've added "Artist.ignore.sort={The}" to tagOptions but can't seem to see my <n> Albums sorted without 'The'. Sorry for such a boring question but it's really annoying me!

Thanks in advance, Alex

Which control point are you using?

Some control points ignore the sort order sent by MinimServer and impose their own alphabetical sort order.

There shouldn't be any problem with these control points.

Looking at your previous post again, you said you have set Artist.ignore.sort={The}. This won't change the sort order of the "n albums" list unless you have also set Album.sortTags={Artist, Album} or similar.

Hi Simon,

Ah, ok. And that goes on the same line?

Sorry, I'm really finding it hard to grasp the strings and how they relate to the sorting Huh

Yes, these both go on the tagOptions line.

Have you read the online User guide? This would help you understand how to set the sorting properties. As a start, I suggest you read this section and this section.

RE: Noob Question - Album Sort
So this on the tagOptions should look right?

Album.sortTags={Artist, Album}, Date.indexValue.yearOnly, Artist.ignore.sort={The}

I have read the guide, I don't find it particularly easy to understand, I'm sorry.

The indexValue.yearOnly option is deprecated and will be removed in a future version of MinimServer (as it says at the end of this section). Instead, you should use:

Album.sortTags={Artist, Album}, Date.yearOnly.index, Artist.ignore.sort={The}

RE: Noob Question - Album Sort
With that line under tagOptions still shows 'The Beatles', and others, under 'T'?

I'm really not sure what I'm doing wrong here?

Did you restart MinimServer after making this change to tagOptions?
