RE: Serento: The audiophile UPnP controller app for iOS/macOS
Hello everyone,

Version 1.1.6 brings Serento to CarPlay, shows your server's own genre images, and lists every track of an artist.

BEFORE YOU DRIVE: CARPLAY

In the car, Serento shows the music you have downloaded to your iPhone, plus the whole radio catalog. Download what you want to hear before you leave: Settings › Manage › Downloads shows what is on your iPhone.

NEW

CarPlay, on iPhone. Serento appears on your car's screen with the tabs of the app:

Home: Recently Added, Favorite Albums, Favorite Radio Stations, Favorite Playlists, My Mixes and Recently Played, as shelves of covers.

Browse: Albums, Artists, Tracks, Playlists and Genres, with the same artists and the same genre pictures as on your iPhone.

Radio: every station, with the genre filter of the Radio tab.

Search: albums, artists, tracks and stations as you type, with your recent searches. Apple opens search to audio apps from iOS 27, so with iOS 26 the car shows the first three tabs.

Lists of albums, artists, tracks and playlists start with Play and Shuffle. Everything plays on your iPhone, through the car: if your iPhone was playing on a streamer at home, Play in the car moves the music to the iPhone. A change on the iPhone (genres, favorites, downloads, stations) shows in the car within seconds.

Your server's genre images. Settings › Display › Genre Settings › Use Own Images shows the genre images from your server on Serento's genre list, in color, each cropped around the genre name written on the image. A genre that is not a tag on your server gets the image named after it. A genre without an image shows a tile in its own color, and Show genre names over images writes the names.

Custom Genres on the mosaic. With Custom Genres on, the Genres tab uses the same mosaic, with your server's images cropped the same way. Turning either option on reads your server's genre images right away, without waiting for the next sync.

Every track of an artist. View All under an artist's Popular Tracks now lists every track of the artist in your library, including the ones they are credited on in other people's albums, with no limit. It scrolls like a playlist and has Favorites, Downloaded, Filters, search, sorting, Pick for Me and Play, like the tracks of a genre.

IMPROVED

A genre image replaced on your server under the same file name now shows after the next sync or Enrich Data. Images that did not change are not downloaded again.

A folder chosen in Folder for Genres (Settings › Libraries › your server › Metadata and Sync Options) is now the genre list of every sync, whichever way Serento reads your server.

Scheduled sync. On iPhone and iPad it now starts between the time you chose and 7:00, only while Serento is not in use and no car is connected, and only when your server answers. Opening Serento or connecting CarPlay stops it, and it carries on where it stopped the next time it may run. On a Mac it starts at its time as before, once your server answers.

A work with other people's tracks between its movements, as on a film soundtrack, now stays one work, with all its tracks in album order, under the composer of most of them.

On iPhone Duo folded, Now Playing fills the whole screen.

Messages that point you to a setting now give its full path, whether the setting is in Serento or in the system Settings.

FIXED

On an OpenHome streamer that is playing, Play Next, Add to Queue and other changes to the queue no longer close Serento. The new tracks go after the one that is playing, as in 1.1.4.

A sync no longer takes away a genre's image when it finds no artist for that genre, and artists who appear only on other people's tracks stay visible, with their photos and bios, when a sync is cut short.

Many bug fixes and other small improvements.
