RE: Unable to open Minimwatch after upgrade to Mac OS Sequoia
Hi Simon,
After a change of network provider this problem has reoccured :-(

In the meantime I am on Sequoia 15.4.1. Minimserver 2.2 updated 258 has been installed along with Minimstreamer 2.0.13. And JDK21 has been installed. Finally, I have unchecked and checked both Minimserver and Minimwatch several times in the system settings.

And yet, the issue remains. What might I be missing?

Cheers from Denmark, Per.

RE: Unable to open Minimwatch after upgrade to Mac OS Sequoia
A number of people have reported different Sequoia-related issues on this thread. Please describe in detail the issue you are seeing and whether it relates to MinimServer or MinimWatch. Also. please confirm whether you have the 2.2.r4 versions of MinimServer and MinimWatch installed and please confirm whether you are unchecking and checking MinimServer and MinimWatch under Local Network Access or somewhere else.

RE: Unable to open Minimwatch after upgrade to Mac OS Sequoia
I have downloaded and installed the 2.2 r4 packages. And JDK21. The list of installed packages does not specify r4, but I have run the installation of Minimserver 2.2 r4 twice. It has been allowed to find devies on the network. And I am unchecking and checking both Minim applications under system settings > privacy & security > local network.

Minimwatch appears to run correctly. Whereas Minimserver starts up greyed out after relaunch and then goes red after a few seconds with the "local network access is disabled. Enable access and restart Minimserver." error message.

Thanks for this. It is hard to understand how MinimWatch can work but MinimServer doesn't work, as they are both using the same code to check that local network access is available.

It is possible that there could be some interference between MinimWatch and MinimServer that is causing this. Please try restarting the Mac and then starting MinimServer without starting MinimWatch. Does this enable MinimServer to run correctly?

RE: Unable to open Minimwatch after upgrade to Mac OS Sequoia
So, I cleared the caches, closed everything and restarted the mac. Did the reset in Local Network, for good measure, and started Minimserver. Same result: Greyed out and then the error message.

A curious detail is that in the list of applications in Local Network Minimserver appears 5 times and Minimwatch 3 times. However, the toggles for all 5 Minimserver move in sync, so resetting one resets them all. It is just a bit untidy.

Sorry to keep bothering you with this, but it would be good to get to the bottom of the root cause.

Thanks for trying this. Everything is working correctly on my Sequoia 15.3.1 installation and I am unable to install Sequoia 15.4.1 to try this myself. When I try to install 15.4.1, I am offered 15.5 instead. Can you try updating to 15.5 to see if you get the same problem with this?

Done. No difference, I am afraid. I will park the issue for a day or two while attending to daily matters.

I have installed Sequoia 15.5 and MinimServer local network access is working correctly for me.

Are you launching MinimServer from the Applications folder? Launching it from some other location can cause problems.

I found this article which might be relevant to your situation. There is another discussion here.

RE: Unable to open Minimwatch after upgrade to Mac OS Sequoia
Can you create a test user account and try installing and running MinimServer using that account? Each user account has its own set of local network access settings.

If this works, there is some historical issue with your usual account that has caused macOS to get confused.

RE: Unable to open Minimwatch after upgrade to Mac OS Sequoia
I tried this myself. MinimServer showed a grey icon and prompted for local network access permission. I gave permission and the icon turned red with an error message. I closed the error dialog and selected Restart from the MinimServer icon menu. MinimServer restarted and connected to the local network successfully, showing the normal transparent icon.
