RE: Searching Melco with dCS Mosaic
Kazoo is doing progressive UPnP searching as you type. I have an album by the artist Taizé Community. As I start typing this artist name into the Kazoo search box, Kazoo does a MInimServer UPnP search for T, then for Ta, then for Tai, etc. By the time I have typed Tai, the only match is for my Taizé Community album (the T and Ta searches returned additional matches) and I can stop typing.

Mosaic does not do progressive UPnP searching. As I type Tai into the search box at the top of the screen, a strange prompt bar near the bottom of the screen suggests "tai", tailgate and tailgating. This is presumably using some built-in dictionary that bears no relation to the contents of my library. The UPnP search only happens after I have finished typing the search term and clicked Enter.

The reason this works so well in Kazoo is the very fast responses MinimServer is able to send to the searches for T, Ta and Tai. It is able to send these fast responses because it is doing exact matching for these strings rather than applying some "fuzzy search" algorithm.

So, is there a case to persuade dCS to change Mosaic so it does use progressive search and if so do you wield any influence there?

I suggest you ask dCS about this, referencing the discussion on this thread. You are their customer so you would have more influence than me.
