RE: Instances do not match item count...
Simon,
I checked the .log file for this Album and for that song, it got ripped with the quotes as "It's for You". I'm going to re rip it, but I need to ID the delta between the instances and correct if needed. Is there any way to get a dump of the two instances data so I can compare in Excel? If I can get that, I'll be able to dig a little deeper.

Simon, I re-ripped the track and left the double quotes in the title, re-scanned both instances and it plays fine on both.

I am pleased to hear this has helped although I'm not sure why changing the title would make a difference. Does this mean the problem is solved?

No.
I still don't know why the item numbers in the 2 instances are so far off. I found another example.

See the attached screen shots. Albert King in Mac instance only shows 7 tracks vs the Synology instance with 11 tracks...

How is your mac instance accessing the synology files, via a mapped network drive? Can you see those missing files in the mapped drive on the mac?

Yes, I have a shortcut on my desktop. I have a screen shot of the files for the Albert King CD, notice the items with red...

I'm stumped...

RE: Instances do not match item count...
I think I figured it out....
It appears that I have more than one path to the drive....

smb://msg_backup/music this path shows the correct info for the Albert King CD in question

afp://msg_backup._afpovertcp._tcp.local/music this one does not show all the tracks for the Albert King CD...

So now the question is why do the different paths produce different results?

RE: Instances do not match item count...
It looks like it's some apple proprietary file sharing nonsense, but you just replied to my previous post saying that you could see the files from the mac using the protocol that you were using as content directory in MinimServer, or did you check the wrong thing?

EDIT: I've only just looked at the picture you attached. Why didn't you think those weird filenames were a problem? Or were you saying that that was a problem, you just didn't know why? The tone of your reply didn't make it sound like you'd found the problem, or at least a significant step towards it.

That was my suspicion all along about file names.
I declared victory too soon!!
I remapped to smb://msg_backup/music

I just rebooted my computer, rescanned and the issue still persists. The item count has not changed.

I looked at the mapping for my drive smb://msg_backup/music and this is what is see again. I can fix this record too, but I don't know of a way to find the others that are messed up without comparing each instance line by line. I'm not going to lose sleep over it but at one time the 2 instances matched the item count @ 100% .

Anyone else run into this issue??

RE: Instances do not match item count...
I question I do have, is which mapping protocol is the preferred method....

afp://msg_backup._afpovertcp._tcp.local/music
or
smb://msg_backup/music
