WHY? Wav playback is way better than Flac or Internet Radio

Agree it is matter of meta data: Wav has very poor support for this.

I too have a DS412+ on which I run MinimServer. My files are stored as Apple Lossless but I use MinimStreamer to transcode files played to WAV. I was advised that doing this would reduce the load on the processor in the renderer. I can't say I found any change in sound quality by doing this but I never experience any dropouts / hiccups with this setup. I suggest that you try this - set up MinimStreamer for transcoding and compare the SQ (and streaming integrity).
