It might be possible to present the information in the way you are suggesting but this is likely to be considerably more work to implement. I will give this some more thought. Cool... I hope you do consider this approach. Right now, I rip CDs via XLD and then import into iTunes. New tracks are added to my iTunes playlists "New Music" and "New Classical", which is indexed and presented via MinimServer. But I am constantly rearranging albums within the playlist to group things, which is tedious. Of course, I could create new playlists, but I really want to browse these by album, album artist, et al., on-the-fly, without manually curating a bunch of playlists. Something MinimServer does very well, in general ... :-) |

Do the iTunes "New Music" and "New Classical" playlists automatically appear in MinimServer as playlists in the "n playlists" section or did you need to export them as .m3u files to make this happen? |

Ah. No, I use "Playlist Export" from the Mac App store to export .M3U playlists from iTunes (I have about a 100 playlists for various genres and artists). So, I can do all of my track tagging and playlist management in iTunes and then export everything to my Mac Mini for MinimServer/Streamer (which transcodes to WAV/24 for SQ and for compatibility with my various household streamers). I like Playlist Export, because it lets me replace portions of the file/pathname to match the system running MinimServer (which is not my iTunes system). You know, to be frank, many of my playlists are now obsolete, since discovering how to get MinimServer to sort an Album Artist's collection of albums by release date. If there was a "New Music" container, as I describe above, I would be mostly freed from playlist curation (other than "Mixers" that I create of favorite tracks in a specific order from a particular artist). Please, please, please... :-) |
