OK. I'll let you know how I get on.

As I said in my previous post, you could try to use the Sonos mesh network for your Akurate DS. You can use the Sonos mesh network for things other than Sonos.
So it would be router Ethernet cable to Sonos unit -- mesh wireless -- Sonos unit -- mesh network -- Sonos unit Ethernet cable to Akurate DS. The mesh network can extend networks as one unit only has to be able to "see" the next unit.
If you already have 3 Sonos units you can try this out.
This should operate the same as a direct link from your wifi router to the Akurate DS.

I'll give that a try as well. Only have 2 Sonos units though - a play and a Bridge.

OK - may not help you but may be worth a try. You could also try your long ethernet cable from the play unit to the Akurate DS. This should test whether using the Sonos mesh network may be a solution.
Is your play unit closer to the Akurate DS than the router?

ps: I tried moving my wifi router around in my office on the top floor, eventually found a spot that would give coverage to all of the first floor and half of the ground floor. It can be central heating pipes, water pipes etc as well as just walls and floors that can make a difference to the signal range.
