I didn't quite follow "didn't show it was turned on the log file reported it was on". Did you enable the JRE QPKG after installing it and before installing MinimServer? If the JRE QPKG is enabled, it has an orange logo in the QPKG Center.

Yup I enabled th JRE and the logfile showed that it had been enabled. What I tried to say was that the screen in the QNAP utility did not show it that the JRE had been enabled, that was all.
