I thought I'd chime in with my experiences installing mininimserver 0.8.1 on my (fully patched and standard) DS-412+ (dual core atom). Just to remind - my experience with 0.7.2 was rock solid - it worked great.

I really appreciate the architectural changes you've made - modularity, the plugin architecture, upnp search sounds great, although I've noticed no difference with Lumin control point towards Linn ADS, the ability to check on minim status and force a rescan via a web interface (as opposed to using minimwatch)

First of all - installation did not proceed as expected, I wasn't able to upgrade my installation with 0.7.2 running - I got the message that the port 9790 was occupied, despite waiting and even rebooting my DS. I had to stop the 0.7.2 to be able to upload the 0.8.1. Luckily it preserved all settings, so that was fine. Just FYI

This has discussed on the forum. There's no way round this for the 0.72 to 0.8.1 update, but it shouldn't be needed for future releases.

Quote:My major issue is that minimserver seems to crash, daily... I get the java out of bonds exception, usually after the server has been up 5-6 hours. I still restart it daily (echo restart > /volume1/@tmp/minimstdinpipe <- is it still recommended), but it usually crashes in the evening, before I've had the chance to listen to music, so I've reverted back to Synology's own, native upnp server..

Please post the exact wording of the exception you are getting, together with the complete Java stack trace. You should be able to find this information in a crash log file in the /volume1/homes/minimserver/appData folder, which is visible in File Station.

Quote:The other issue I'm experiencing is that the accompanying minimwatch crashes as well on my macbook pro, running mavericks, fully patched. It looks itself up as well, after a while, which makes it impossible to get a screenshot of the exact error message..
Is it just a mirror of the minimserver installation, so when it locks, the minimwatch locks as well? Or is is an issue related to the latest java installation, 1.7?

I don't think this is related to the MinimServer crash. After this happens, is there any error information in the file

/Users/<your-user-name>/Library/MinimWatch/minimwatch.log

or are there any crash log files in the

/Users/<your-user-name>/Library/MinimWatch

folder? (Note: The /Users/<your-user-name>/Library folder is hidden by the Finder, so you need to use "Go to folder" to see this folder.)

Quote:Anyway, I know you're on (well deserved) holiday, and I have no doubt those problems will be resolved, so I am pretty relaxed about the whole issue, just thought I'd report on these niggling problems..

Thanks for letting me know. If you can help by providing any futrther information as described above, that would be very useful.
