IGMP snooping is controlled by the router, not by any switches. An unmanaged switch passes any IGMP messages through unchanged. If IGMP snooping is enabled on the router and an IGMP query or response is not delivered successfully, you can see a dropped connection as you have described. The fix is to disable IGMP snooping in the router if it is enabled by default.
Alternatively, it is possible that the connection is being dropped because a UPnP subscription renewal message is being lost. These messages are exchanged directly between the Bartok (in its role as the UPnP control point) and MinimServer on the QNAP (the UPnP server). If this is what is happening, changing the IGMP snooping setting on the router will not solve the problem. |
