Can the Denon be controlled by an app on your phone?
Most of the steps are being introduced by the Denon interface itself. Using my control point I just need to select the Genre index, then click on the vertical ellipsis next to the genre I'm interested in and select Play/Shuffle play e.t.c

It looks like it's HEOS enabled so the HEOS app might work, although an app like BubbleUPnP would be quicker.
