It may seem extreme, but I don't think there's another way.

You mentioned the tag update function - I read through it. What I would need was something to update a tag to another tag - in my case "albumartist" to "album artist" - meaning for each file, "albumartist"s value will be written to "album artist" on a file-per-file basis...
