How are you clicking Rescan if there is no icon in the taskbar? Rescan is a menu option shown by right-clicking this icon.
I'm clicking "rescan" from the webpage as theres no icon visible. On the webpage below status, theres a "rescan" button, and afterwhich momemtarily i see the dropdown from the taskbar at the top. but no icon. I'm talking about the icon of the server on the Pi.

Are you loooking in the right place for the MnimWatch icon? It's in the taskbar (or the taskbar overflow area), not the grey launch icon on the desktop.
If MinimServer is not running, the MinimWatch taskbar icon will be grey.
The MinimServer is definately running 100 per cent on the Pi, i can see the folder on my mobile in the Samsung multi room app, and i see the the bbc folder, but obviously cant play it because i dont have the minimStreamer!

This is a subnet address, not a device address. If this subnet is correct, device addresses should look like 192.168.12.x where x is a number between 1 and 255.
Yes, but my network doesn;t operate on 192.168.12.XXX, i don;t recognise that address, and not sure why it's been picked up?

I haven't tested with VNC. This might be why the taskbar icon isn't working. Also, stretch is quite old now and MinimWatch 2.1.2 might not have been tested with this.

if you click downloads page on the left. then click MinimWatch, it goes to 404

i've spent all day trying to get this going, but without an icon i cant get streamer loaded. If you have any suggestions, i may have another crack tomorrow,
i've been adjusting toolbar settings, changing desktop ratio, to get this icon to appear.
