Thanks for doing this.
Java does use XEMBED for tray icons and there is no realistic prospect that this could change. This works on most Linux desktops and was apparently broken on recent versions of GNOME Shell by a deliberate choice of the GNOME developers. As it says in the bugzilla thread linked by mtwebster, the only solution is to use the TopIconsPlus (or similar) extension. I did a quick web search and there is a suggestion in this blog post for converting GNOME Shell extensions for installation on Cinnamon. I don't have Linux Mint or Cinnamon so I haven't tried this. |
