Also, MinimServer checks audio files while browsing to make sure they have not been modified or deleted since the last rescan. Removing a file's embedded image will cause the file to be detected as having been modified and you will receive a "modified or deleted" error when browsing to the file.

For both these reasons, you need to do a rescan after the changes you are making.
