The preinstalled packages should be in /home/alastair/minimserver/lib (this is a symbolic link to /home/alastair/minimserver/2.0.18/lib). What files do you see in this folder?

Did you run setup from a terminal window and enable desktop integration before starting MinimServer from your desktop?
