FLAC Files with the "≫" Character in File Name Won't Play

I doubt that the change from MinimServer 0.8 to MinimServer 2 has caused this problem.

Do you remember which Melco firmware you were using when this was working for you on MinimServer 0.8? There have been changes in the 3.91 firmware related to the treatment of "PC-incompatible characters" (see the release notes for 3.91). If your previous firmware when this was working was earlier than 3.91, it might be the Melco firmware change that has caused this.

There are two different ways the '»' character can be encoded in a filename. On Linux (as used by the Melco), it should be encoded as UTF-8 (0xc2 0xbb). On Windows, it is likely to be encoded as Windows-1252 (0xbb). If the filenames on your Melco have this character encoded as Windows-1252, this might be causing the problem.

It is hard to be sure how the filenames are encoded on the Melco because the software used for copying and viewing these filenames can perform translation from one encoding to the other, so what you see when looking at the file in Windows Explorer or Mac Finder might not be the real truth.

I have verified that a file on the Melco containing a '»' character encoded as UTF-8 is working correctly with the Melco 3.92 firmware and MinimServer 2.
