This might be caused by some problem with the way Java is installed on the TS-109. Which version of Java did you download and install? Which firmware version are you running on the TS-109?

If this is a TS-109 (not a TS-109 II), it will have only 128MB of memory. Depending on what else you have running on the NAS, this might be a problem. If you use the QNAP Admin console to display System Status > Resource Monitor > Memory Usage, what does this show?
