To copy all text from the PuTTY terminal window to the Windows clipboard, click the PuTTY logo at the left of the title bar and then click Copy All to Clipboard from the drop-down menu.

I don't know why you weren't able to enter the password on your next attempt at logging in. This might be related to the lock-up when you tried to copy the window text. To resolve this, you might need to restart the NAS.
