External optical drive recommendations

With the demise of Windows 7 shortly upon us I'm using this opportunity to build a new PC. Ideally I'd find a case that has room for an optical drive (as it's the only one in the house) but this limits my options massively, so I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for any external drives (Win/Linux) or drive enclosures, primarily for ripping CD's.
