RE: Onkyo CR-N765
(25-04-2018 13:48)Cebolla Wrote: Thinking about it there could be another explanation. It's possible the Onkyo CR-N765 is expecting an incorrect MIME type for .dsf DSD files, whereas MinimServer is sending the correct MIME type for .dsf files and the Onkyo doesn't recognise it so cannot play the files. This has been reported before for another Onkyo network streaming device. See this thread & associated posts: I think this is the correct explanation. The waters are very muddy around what is the "correct" MIME type for DSD. IANA's current position is that the x- prefix is no longer required for unregistered MIME types. As no-one has registered a MIME type for DSD, media servers and renderers are choosing MIME types from any of the following: audio/dsd audio/dsf audio/dff audio/x-dsd audio/x-dsf audio/x-dff This is very unsatisfactory as it isn't possible for a server to support multiple MIME types for the same stream. It would be fairly simple for control points and renderers to do this, but in practice they seem to support only one MIME type, which might not be compatible with what the server has chosen. |
