Here's where I think we are on this:

There is one standard way to do this: LIST/INFO without itrk/ITRK.

There are two nonstandard extensions: ID3 tags and LIST/INFO with itrk/ITRK. Of these, the former is better supported by other media servers and tagging programs than the latter. The former also has better capability.

Is this a fair summary?
