As an interim solution, you can downgrade to update 110 by doing the following:

1) From the minim icon on the Raspberry Pi desktop, select Properties
2) In the Properties window, select the Packages tab
3) In the 'Other package' field, type: minimserver-0.8-update-110
4) Click Install and follow the prompts
5) When installation is complete, click Relaunch

This didn't work because the desktop app wasn't starting, and therefore the tray icon wasn't appearing. So there was nowhere to click for 'properties'. However, I was able to do the rollback from the command line - using 'startc', and then using the packages command.

Having done the roll back. The desktop app now starts normally.
