Minim doesn't need to do any http extension. It only needs to write the dbl files (see above for an example) to a folder on the NAS, and the user must make sure that folder is accessible via http from the linn (explained in their manual for a qnap, i set it up on a synology 211+).

The DBLs should contain reasonable playlists, e.g. one album per artist. It's a one-time affair (unless you add music, that is). Minim creates the dbls once (at startup / restart), and the linn will read the folder content once (upon startup). It's a static affair from then: files containing playlists that are made up of static links.

Thanks for explaining this. I understand what would be needed, but I still don't think this is something that should be part of MinimServer. A better approach would be for someone to write some simple UPnP client software that can browse the MinimServer container structure and automatically create some "reasonable" .dpl playlists. All the information needed to do this is available using the UPnP protocol.
