I recently acquired a NAS (D-Link DNS-320L) and a network receiver (Onkyo TX-NR414) and am currently trying out various DLNA servers. Minimserver looks great so far, but unfortunately I am, too, hit by the "cannot play" problem on the Onkyo. I'd be very interested to try out a fixed package.
