OK, so this is related to UPnP discovery. It seems that your network has a multicast issue that is preventing UPnP M-SEARCH queries sent by the HEOS app from being delivered to MinimServer (or possibly preventing M-SEARCH responses sent by MinimServer from being delivered to the HEOS app). MinimServer sends out a UPnP "alive" message every 10-15 minutes and it seems this is reaching the HEOS app and enabling the HEOS app to discover MinimServer successfully.

You aren't getting the problem with the Synology media server because it "floods" the network with very frequent UPnP "alive" messages.

Are you running the Denon app and the HEOS app on the same iPad?

How are the HEOS and the Denon AVR connected to your network?
