Just to say that you were right in suspecting that a problem with the network was causing the delay of 16 seconds in streaming the BBC stations: after a recent fault my BT hub seems to have changed setting to assign addresses, which meant there were two devices on the network doing that. I've got rid of that problem, and the delay has gone - it is now pretty much instantaneous.

But sadly it doesn't change the renderer's refusal to play the aac stream when transcoded. I'll let you know if exaSound has any ideas.
