On-demand / changing URLs

Hi,
I listen to some on-demand URLs which change every day.

For non-HLS streams, I have a "Favorite" in my Internet Radio which, kicks off a CGI script, which does screen scraping and echos out a playlist with the current URL back to the Internet Radio.

While using Mimimstreamer, I can think of having a cron:

Do a screen scrape when the new URL is available.
Stream Edit the Minimstreamer m3u8 file to update the current URL.
Send the Minimserver named pipe a rescan command.

Is there a better way to do this?
