Disable library scan on startup?

is there a way to disable the library scan on start up? My 37k song library is on a NAS accessed wirelessly. Because of this, the start up scan takes a very long time (over 30 mins). Ideally I would like to shut down my audio pc when I'm not listening to it but the long start up scan is rather inconvenient.
