RE: Tagging Display Functionality Excellent

I had understood that using the tagging in MinimServer would overcome the sorting issues. I agree, it's been very annoying to say the least that this feature is not well supported by the LDS itself. I'm still unsure what the problem is, and would not necessarily give up just yet. I was particularly interested to read that the Aries supports the OpenHome specification sponsored by Linn. This means that it ought to work with a control point, such as Linn Kazoo or Linn Kinsky, which works with OpenHome. Firstly, can you say what browsing sequence you used in Lightning? If it is using the MinimServer browse list unchanged, you should see 'nnn albums' followed by 'nnnn items' at the top of the list, then your indexed tags (including Artist) and finally '[folder view]' at the bottom. If that is not what you see, please could you say what you are seeing. If the MinimServer list appears as described, click on the name of a tag you have set to ignore 'the' and browse the results. Is 'the' etc. being ignored? If not, are there any error messages in the MinimServer log? If those steps are not producing useful results, is it possible for you to install an alternative control point on a PC or a Mac? If it is, I suggest that you download and install Kazoo (not Kazoo Server) from this page. If all is well, Kazoo should recognise both MinimServer (from the Kazoo Home page, select Settings and set MinimServer as the Media Server) and your Aries (which should be in a 'room'). Then try browsing your library with Kazoo, and see if 'the' is being ignored as per your MinimServer settings. Simon is away from home at the moment, so he tells us, so I suppose his postings here will be less frequent than usual. But if we are lucky, and he provides the answer to your problem, please ignore my suggestions. David |
