RE: Chord DSX 1000 Network Music Player Review
I too have a DSX1000 and I also got rid of my Cyrus setup on the way. I had a Cyrus Stream XP2QX, but I believe that that range of streamers is not destined to do well because of the fact that you have to take the unit to a dealer every time the firmware needs to be upgraded. The dealer that I purchased from were always making excuses and it was too much hassle anyway, so I binned the dealer and the Cyrus kit and bought the Chord unit.

I'd agree with the comments made above and the sound is vastly superior to the Cyrus set up and has been improved still further by the addition of a Melco N1A NAS. The sound that I'm getting now is fantastic.

Regarding your comments, I have had no problems whatsoever with the device on my network. These things are complex and the problem can often be somewhere else in the network, as I discovered when adding the N1A whereupon my DSX1000 did suddenly keep losing visibility. This is apparently to do with the way that the router responds - but Melco fixed this for me anyway through the firmware on N1A.

The remote - agreed. I don't use it.

The app - there is a new one out called Chord HD2 which is miles better. Not perfect, but few of them are. It doesn't highlight itself through the AppStore as an update and I only found out about it because Alan at Melco mentioned it. If you aren't aware, I'd recommend checking it out.
