Due to the problems with .wav tags. Would it be possible to add a feature to the server to read tag information from a provided xml file. An xml file per track with the same filename but a different extension. I am able to provide artist & album covers via folder.jpg and cover.jpg. I think this would be a really useful feature.
The existance of this file would overide any tags contained in the audio file.

One for the wish list / ideas list?

Thanks for this excellent software.
I will donate as soon as I am able to.

What is the problem with .wav tags? MinimServer can read ID3v2 tags from .wav
files.

I don't want to get into a sound quality debate but I find wav files a little better to listen to when compairing cd quality audio. wav files also seem to be the most universally compatible file format.
My CD rips are a mixture of wavs and aif. The aif rips contain metadata. When trying to stream aif files to the ps3, the ps3 tells me its unsupported data. Wav files play OK.
I tried converting the aif files to wav with iskysoft converter. The converted files won't scan with minimserver. I get an unexpected end of file error in wav file shown in the log.

To me the whole metadata situation seems a bit of a pain. It would be much easier for me if the metadata was contained in an xml file that could be editied in a standard editor. At the moment there seems to be lots of different programs for metadata. It's a bit like the dark arts at hogwarts, you cant see whats in there.

Just an idea.

I will look into wav metadata thanks.
