About Icecast 2

Icecast is a streaming media server which currently supports Ogg (Vorbis and Theora), Opus, WebM and MP3 audio streams.
It can be used to create an Internet radio station or a privately running jukebox and many things in between.

This suggests the Icecast stream can be received by MinimStreamer or possibly played directly by your favourite UPnP renderer.

Excellent. Mind you, I'm not looking forward to setting it up; my linux knowledge is extremely limited. But it should be a good learning experience. I'll report back if I have success.
