Following up on the streaming side, I came across this;

It's somewhat daunting to me, but offers some hope. But from what you've said previously, I'm still not sure if MinimStreamer would be able to pick up the stream from Icecast2.

From a very quick look at Icecast, I think this may work. From the Icecast home page:

About Icecast 2

Icecast is a streaming media server which currently supports Ogg (Vorbis and Theora), Opus, WebM and MP3 audio streams.
It can be used to create an Internet radio station or a privately running jukebox and many things in between.

This suggests the Icecast stream can be received by MinimStreamer or possibly played directly by your favourite UPnP renderer.
