Thanks for your guidance: duly noted. If minimserver.config is not necessarily transferable between instances of MinimServer, its value as a backup vehicle is somewhat limited, because, as you imply yourself, the circumstances in which the backup would need to be restored are not predictable. In those circumstances, I suppose the safest backup would be a simple text file, created by copying and pasting entries from the Properties window (labelled to remind the user what they were). It would probably not be necessary to copy all entries, only the more complex ones. The text file would then be stored as part of the user's normal backup set, with (ideally) off site copies for maximum security. Settings could then be restored by copying and pasting from the text file into the Properties window of the target version of MinimServer. This is a pretty simple procedure for more capable users, and it would not need to be done very often. The down side is that it is the kind of job that IT-phobes may shy away from and others may not get around to doing. David |
