Strange setup error

Strange setup error
I am setting up a second Minimserver on an old and slow QNAP NAS. My newer QNAP is what I actually have running but I want to setup a fallback server.

If you look at my first attachment you think, like me, that the content directory should be /share/Multimedia/Music - am I right?

But if you look at my second attachment you will see that the server is not happy with this directory.

Anyone got any ideas why?

RE: Strange setup error
Have you typed a space at the end of the content directory path? This would cause this error message. You can use Reset to clear the input area, then type the path again.

No, I checked that Simon, but will check again some time tomorrow.

RE: Strange setup error
Checked just now and there is no trailing space. One thing that is different is that I have turned off all the multimedia functionality off on this server - apart from minimserver of course. Does minimserver require any of the QNAP multimedia functionality?

RE: Strange setup error
I have also turned off all the multimedia functionality on my QNAP. MinimServer does not use any of this.

Please do the following:

1) Login to the QNAP using SSH (if you are on Windows, use PuTTY)

2) Run the command: ls -l /share

3) Post the output of this command here

RE: Strange setup error
Thanks for this. Does /share/MD0_DATA/Multimedia/Music work? If not, please post the output of ls -l /share/MD0_DATA/Multimedia

RE: Strange setup error
Yes /share/MD0_DATA/Multimedia/Music is accepted and does not give the error. I am having trouble starting it now, the minimwatch icon is staying yellow rather that green and the log says it is starting. This is a slow server so it mught just be that it is rebuilding the library index etc.
Will get back, thanks Simon/

RE: Strange setup error
This is very surprising and might be caused by some kind of issue with permissions in the file system on your NAS that are causing problems when following a symbolic link. What version of QNAP QTS are you running?

RE: Strange setup error
Well it is now working fine, it was the slowness of this server that caused a worry but it is started and it serves music.
Now I assume your question about versions was because it is missing a link I presume. Anyway the OS version on my TS-412 4.3.3.0998 and it informs me that the firmware is up-to-date.
Thanks Simon
