PUBLISHER tag in Index Tags trouble
I've added the "PUBLISHER" tag to Index Tags, but I'm having a problem. Only entries in the following format: Columbia\Sony Music are displayed in the "PUBLISHER" tab and only information after the "\\". is displayed. Entries without the "\\" are not indexed. What should I do to index entries like "Sony Music"?

What tagging program did you use to create the PUBLISHER tags?

RE: PUBLISHER tag in Index Tags trouble
Trying to reproduce the problem I ran into a very odd situation.

Using foobar2000 I added a "Publisher" tag to a few files and populated it with "Sony". The result was reflected correctly in MP3Tag.

I added "Publisher" to the index tags, saved, restarted and recanned the server.
Oddly enough there was no sign of Publisher in the list view, neither on the WiiM Home app, nor on mconnect.

Then I repeated the exercise with a wildly made up tag called "Trala" and again pupolated it with "Sony". This will show up in the both apps as a selection criterion.

Is there some sort of ban on "Publisher"?

I'm using MP3Tag latest version.

Have you tried LABEL instead of PUBLISHER?

EDIT: Sorry you're absolutely right. PUBLISHER (written to ORGANISATION in foobar) is processed but doesn't appear to be indexed.

Ah, you've brought me onto the right track. Writing a "Publisher" tag both in foobar and MP3Tag will actually create the "Organization" tag. If I put this into index tags it will be indexed and I can see it as a selection item.

In MP3 Tag I can see this mapping in the settings. Not so in foobar though.

I sometimes also use a little info tool called MediaInfo. This will show me "Prorducer". Confused

It's all a bit weird.

A further twist is that this happens with FLAC files but not with MP3 files. Using Mp3tag to add a PUBLISHER tag to an MP3 file causes an ID3v2 TPUB frame to be written to the file, which MinimServer maps to a LABEL tag.

So best keep clear of ‚publisher‘ and use ‚label‘ instead.
That‘s what I do anyway.

RE: PUBLISHER tag in Index Tags trouble
MusicBee's Tag Inspector (Right click on track > Edit > Tag Inspector) is a great tool to have on hand in these situations, as it displays the raw field names alongside the "user friendly" alias.

If I'd used it myself in this instance I might have have spotted my typo (organiSation)!

Better yet, if you're working with MinimServer you can enable the writeAllTags option and it'll produce a listing of tag name(as used in MinimServer)/value pairs.
