minimstream update crash

I'm on minimserver 271, and minimstreamer 2.1.2

Update to minimstreamer 2.1.4 crashes

"java.lang.NullPointerException"

It then says information has been written to a crash log file, but I've no idea where that log is.

Ubuntu 24.04.04

The crash log file is in the minimserver/data directory. It has a name like this:

minimserver-crash-20260217-212712.log

It isn't there, or anywhere in my home directory. The normal minimserver-log (etc) is present and correct.

The error message and stack trace should be in the minimserver.log file. Do you see it there? If so, please copy and paste the complete stack trace into a post here.

I wish it was, but there is no mention of a crash, let alone a stack trace, n the minimserver log. Is that because it's a minimstreamer fault? I'm not actually transcoding anything at present in my configuration.

MinimStreamer logs all errors to the minimserver.log file.

Where exactly are you seeing the message saying java.lang.NullPointerException? Is it perhaps coming from MinimWatch?

I look at the properties, packages, select minimstreamer-2.1.4, Install, respond to the screen asking 'continue with installation' with OK, and get:

Minimserver Error
An Unexpected exception has occurred:
java.lang.NullPointerException
Diagnostic information has been written to a crash log file.
Click OK to relaunch Minimserver or Cancel to exit, press Cancel (or OK).

I would not blame you if you wondered if I was dreaming, so here is the latest log file. I think I'm right in saying that whether I respond OK or Cancel to the last prompt from the error message, no log is created - the last one stays in place and minimserver does not start in either case.

From the above I am deducing that you are getting the error from MinimWatch, as I suspected. To see the error stack trace, select Options > Show log (watch).

But I'm not running minimwatch. I am running miniserver (the desktop file clearly shows that). I have minimwatch installed but haven't used it since 2024, and its data files are dated 2024.
