Unable to open Minimwatch after installing latest version
I have just upgraded MinimServer to the latest version, as prompted. When I click on MinimWatch in my Applications, the minim sign does not open in the top bar.
I am using a Macbook Pro with Sequoia 15.6.1 and an M3 Max chip. I have been trying to follow the instructions for installing Minim Server 2 on the Mac because it seems that there are some complications with Mac's Sequoia OS. I have downloaded the appropriate version for my configuration, but when I try to drag the MinimWatch icon to my Applications folder, I receive the message that the operation cannot be completed because MinimWatch is running and in use. How do I Exit Minimwatch when I do not have the icon in my top bar? In my Privacy and Security Settings>Local Networks access to MinimWatch is activated. I re-booted my MacBook to see if that would sort it but it didn't. Any ideas gratefully received!! |

RE: Unable to open Minimwatch after installing latest version
First, remove MinimWatch from Login items and Extensions if it is there. This will ensure that MinimWatch doesn't launch automatically when you start macOS. After doing this and restarting macOS, you should be able to drag MinimWatch from the Applications folder to the Trash/Bin.
Now download and install the latest version of MinimWatch (2.2.r5). This is working for me on Sequoia 15.5. I am installing the latest Sequoia update 15.7.2 and I will post back here when I have tried MinimWatch with this version. |

I confess that my limited IT skills mean that I am not sure what I should do to "remove MinimWatch from Login items and Extensions if it is there." Sorry to be an IT illiterate...But if you can lead me, I will surely drink... |

RE: Unable to open Minimwatch after installing latest version
Login items and Extensions is a way of making selected programs start automatically when macOS is started. It sounds like you are not doing this, in which case you can ignore this instruction.

RE: Unable to open Minimwatch after installing latest version
Thank you Simon. I am still not clear what I have to do to close MinimWatch. Should I just sent it to the bin?

And then re-install, of course!

Yes, drag MinimWatch from Applications to Trash/Bin and then download and install the latest 2.2.r5 version.

RE: Unable to open Minimwatch after installing latest version
Simon,
When I drag Minimwatch from my Applications folder to the Bin it says I cannot do that because Minimwatch is open. How do I close Minimwatch? |

RE: Unable to open Minimwatch after installing latest version
Do you see the MinimWatch icon in the taskbar? If so, select Exit from the icon menu and then drag MinimWatch to the Trash.
If you don't see the MinimWatch icon in the taskbar, this probably means you have started MinimWatch from Login items and Extensions. You need to open System Settings > General > Login Items & Extensions and remove MinimWatch from the Open at Login section. After doing this, restart macOS and drag MinimWatch to the Trash. |

RE: Unable to open Minimwatch after installing latest version
Simon,
I do not see the MinimWatch icon in the taskbar. I opened Systems Settings>General>Login Items and Extensions but MinimWatch is not there. I have restarted macOS and tried to drag MinimWatch to the Trash but I still get the same message that I cannot do that because MinimWatch is open. Curiouser and curiouser....... Sorry to be such a nuisance...... |
