Mac content directory path for nas
Hi. I just installed MinimServer in my Mac mini. I am unable to direct the server to a Synology folder in my network. MinimServer keep telling me the content directory path is not absolute. I try to search for an answer on the web to no avail. need help. thank you. when I rescan, the directories in the pop up window does not show my nas. though I can see my network drive in Mac finder.

RE: Mac content directory path for gas
The simplest way to set the correct path is to use macOS finder to drag the Synology folder that you want to scan into an empty MinimServer contentDir entry field.

I am not sure which pop-up window you are referring to. Is this the MinimServer window that shows your contentDir settings?

RE: Mac content directory path for gas
I had mis-spelled nas as gas in the title. Apologies.

When a rescan is selected, a minimserver finder window pops up but only local directories are shown, and mounted network directories shown in mac finder is not found.

Noted your suggestion. Will try. Currently I gave up. I installed minimserver in synology nas instead of having minimserver in mac mini.

RE: Mac content directory path for gas
The window that pops up when you do a rescan is a MinimServer file chooser window, not a Finder window. It is possible but not easy to find network folders from this window. A simpler solution is to do the following:

1) Open a Finder window that shows the network folder
2) Select Configure from the Minimserver icon in the macOS menu bar. This opens the MinimServer configuration web page.
3) Drag the network folder from the Finder window (step 1) to the empty 'Content directory' field of the configuration web page (step 2)
5) The 'Content directory' field should now show the correct path for the network folder
6) On the Configure web page, click Rescan to scan the network folder and restart MinimServer

May I ask. In my use case. Where I have a mac mini m4 where I run hqplayer. And I send all music to hqplayer in the mac mini for upsampling. And my local files are in the NAS. Should I run minimserver at the NAS or at mac mini? Some earlier posts that I read seem to recommend having minimserver at the NAS where the local files are located. I wonder if it is still true. Thank you.

It is better to run MinimServer on the device where your music files are located and use MinimServer to stream the files across the network to your player device.
