RE: Minimserver in Windows Explorer - normal flip-flop or clue?
No, the flip-flop has ceased. Sometimes when I exit Minimserver, typically via the icon in the hidden tray of the taskbar, I cannot restart it with the Start button | Programs | Minimserver. Typically, I restart Windows 10 (I have an entry in C:\Users\user-me\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup). )
Java is up to date. |

RE: Minimserver in Windows Explorer - normal flip-flop or clue?
It sounds like MinimServer might not have exited completely when you tried to stop it. You could check this by opening Task Manager, selecting Processes from the sidebar and looking for a process named Java(TM) Platform SE binary. If you see this process, MinimServer has not exited completely for some reason.

RE: Minimserver in Windows Explorer - normal flip-flop or clue?
I've inspected Task Manager and noticed the Java Platform SE binary (32-bit) entry. When Minimserver is running okay, the green Minimserver icon precedes the text. I've seen the entry without the icon several times, but I do not recall the circumstances that prompted me to open Task Manager those times.

RE: Minimserver in Windows Explorer - normal flip-flop or clue?
It sounds like there could be an internal deadlock that is preventing MinimServer from exiting.
Which version of Java are you using to run MinimServer? If it is the JDK (not the JRE), it is possible to get a thread dump that would help me identify the cause of this problem. |
