License Extension where on homepage

Hi Simon,

IMHO it is really hard to find the correct web page to extend a license.

Starting on the homepage there is no purchase option: https://minimserver.com/index.html The only pointer can be found in the menu "License options". The other item "License terms" makes things confusing.

When following the License options menu item you get here: https://minimserver.com/licensing.html . On this page there is *much* text and it is really hard to find the right link at the end(!) of the second(!) block - the full license block.

If you click this you get here: https://minimworld.com/purchase-license.html Here again is too much text. And the menu link "License extension" is, well not hard to find, but a little bit hidden in all this text. Clicking this menu item you get a *huge* load of text. I only want to purchase the extension not study a long guide!

Ok, in the second block "Purchasing an extension" you find the link "Extend license". And yes, this is the page I was looking for, because I am remembering such a form from last year.

You should place a purchase or buy license button more present on most of these pages. Maybe in a always present page header. At least on the homepage should be a clear action item that links directly to a page that gives only three choices 1) purchase a new license 2) extend an already bought license 3) dealer license. No huge explanations.

And one FAQ is missing in all the text I saw. At least I cannot find such an information: Where can I find my license code? Is there a way to display it from the installation? At least there is a link to open the license details. Shouldn't it be possible to simply click an extend button on this page? Well, there is a link, but it does not set the code into the form...

I remember that the license can be found in the mail you get when purchasing the license for the first time? So I have to find this mail...

All users receive a reminder email two weeks before their license expires. This email contains the license code and a direct link to the correct page for extending the license. This is as simple as I can make it.

I will look into reorganising the web pages to make it easier to find the license purchase and extension pages. The license code is not available from the MinimServer configuration web interface for security reasons.

Yes, when searching for the license code I found the reminder mail. But as I wanted to tick off the minimserver-license-extension from my todo list for this year, I tried to continue. Ok, maybe the link from the old mail could have worked? However... I think it is good (in your interest, too) to make purchasing easier.

Hi,

I have full license but I decided previously to maintain status quo and not update.
Now I have changed my mind and I want to join the ride again.
However, if I try to extend, I get the message that I already have an active subscription. Could be true, but the registered credit card is probably expired.
How and where do I update my payment params?

Your subscription was cancelled automatically because your credit card could not be charged. My payment processor provided a notification of the cancellation but the subscription status in the MinimServer license database was not updated when this notification was received.

I have updated the MinimServer license database manually and you should now be able to purchase a new license subscription or extension with your current card details. You cannot reactivate your previous subscription. I will also fix the problem that prevented the MinimServer license database from being updated with the correct subscription status.

I have updated the License options page to make it easier to read and to find links to the pages for license purchase and license extension. I have also updated the minimworld.com Purchase license page to include a direct link to the licence extension payment page.

I agree that something needs to be done to make the minimserver.com home page more useful and readable. At present it is a copy of the MinimServer 2.2 page but it should have different contents describing what MinimServer is and including purchase links.

I had to compare the before and after texts in more detail, but I think it is better now. The best still would be to have a purchase button on every page e.g. in the right column (where the news are placed) that leads to the page https://minimworld.com/purchase-license.html

What also is a bit confusing is that you have two forms to extend the license:
The special extend form https://minimworld.com/license-extend.html .
and the general form https://minimworld.com/license-info.html where you can select the "extend" entry from the select box.

It would be better to only have one of these forms. If the general form is used, it maybe would be clearer to see the entries of the select box directly by offering these items as radio button list?

If I were visiting a website to look for information about a product, I would find it irritating and off-putting to have a "Buy now" button on every page. If I had already purchased a license, I would find this quite annoying.

The license-extend page is linked directly from the extension remiinder email. It was added because some users previously selected the wrong license option when presented with a choice. In other situations, I think it is helpful to have a single page that shows all purchase options.

I prefer the current drop-down list to radio buttons because this makes the page smaller. In either case the user views all purchase options before making a selection.

I have updated the minimserver.com home page. The new page mentions the full license and links to a section with more detail and a pointer to the license purchase page.
